On a cold and frosty morning…

A bitterly cold morning led to Class 1 exploring the world around them. The children spotted how white and frosty everything was.  As we turned a corner, leading on to the field, Marley said, “This is beautiful!”   We spotted many things including how hard the ground was and how crispy the grass was. 

Letters to Father Christmas

Class 1 have been getting into the Christmas spirit and decided to write letters to Father Christmas. We did some beautiful writing and then walked to the post office to send the letters on their way! We’re all trying to be very good boys and girls!  

Class 1 explore Haldon Forest

Class 1 went to Haldon Forest to look at and explore our beautiful world. We walked, made dens and a stone camp fire circle, stumbled across the Stick Man and Gruffalo and played in the park. It was a lovely, thankfully dry, morning out with lovely children!      

Learning is fun in Class 1

Class 1 have been busy learning lots.  Here are a few photographs to give you an idea of the mischief we get up to! Look out for us hunting numbers, printing shapes, measuring, learning our letter sounds, writing, winning medals for fabulous PE work and generally having a lovely time learning!

Autumn in Class 1

Class 1 have been finding out about Autumn.  We hunted for and collected signs of Autumn.  We also found out about hibernation and learnt lots of facts about hedgehogs. The Autumn leaves came in very handy when making prickly hedgehog pictures.  We also printed Autumn leaves in beautiful Autumn colours for our hedgehogs to sleep…

Class 1 had a fun packed trip to Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve.  We explored different animal habitats – the pond, the woodland and the sea shore.   We did pond dipping, hunted for minibeasts in the woods and searched for and sorted shells on the beach. This half term we’ve been doing many different things to help us learn lots of new skills. We’ve been finding out about magnetism, playing with clay, and exploring the world of dinosaurs.  We shared all we already knew about dinosaurs – we have quite a few specialists in Class 1! – and learnt new facts…

Happy Birthday to …..the Queen!

Class 1 celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday by dancing, singing, making Union Jack flags, icing birthday biscuits and making the Queen a birthday card.  They all popped along to the Post Office to get stamps and post the card.  We’re wondering if she’ll thank us… Watch this space!
