Devon Swim 100 is a new Devon wide campaign to improve the outcomes of school swimming by setting a new minimum standard and expectation of all children swimming 100 metres by the end of KS2.
Devon children grow up in a county which has two coastlines and numerous rivers and lakes providing leisure opportunities which contribute to a healthy active lifestyle.
We believe every child should be given the opportunity to develop the skills to safely explore and use these natural environments with confidence.
The Swim 100 curriculum provides a broad range of water based skills and knowledge, helping children to do much more than swim.
Percentage of Year 6 cohort who meet the national requirement to swim 25 meters, perform a range of strokes, perform safe self-rescue is 100%
The programme has been developed by the Devon PEDPASS team in response to headteachers’ request for a more robust swimming provision.
