Kenn C of E’s Christian vision

April 1, 2019Jo Hussain

We invited Helen Plant, a Daisi registered local artist (Devon Arts in Schools Initiative), to work with the children to help create a wall hanging that represented our Christian vision. The children worked, over a period of time, on trying to unpick and understand the meaning of our school vision – ‘Aspire, believe and flourish…

Food donations to St Petrock’s

November 15, 2018Jo Hussain

The food donations collected at Harvest Festival were taken to St Petrock’s over half term. Mrs Tetlow’s car boot and back seats were crammed with boxes and big shopping bags full of groceries. St Petrock’s were hugely grateful. Thank you for your Harvest donations.

Children sang and danced to remind us all about Harvest and to help raise money for CAFOD.  Each Class created art work to represent the hope for unity and sharing around the world. This year £74.70 was raised. Thank you to all of those who were able to join us and contributed to this total….

R.E books for school

July 3, 2017Jo Hussain

Bridge books, in St Thomas, Exeter, applied on our behalf for £300 worth of Christian themed books for the school. Their application was successful so we have just been presented with lots of really lovely children’s books of Bible stories, fiction with a Christian perspective, factual books and graphic Bibles. There are books to suit…

Exeter ICE is an education charity which assist schools in the social, emotional, mental and spiritual development of young people. They come into our School and run ICE Club on Tuesday lunchtimes and they always have a wonderful assembly ready for us, every Wednesday. Sometimes it’s a puppet show, sometimes some acting out but whatever…

March 30, 2017Jo Hussain

Classes 1 and 2 went along to Buckfast Abbey to hear A Donkey’s Tale – the Easter Story.  We also did some Easter art and craft and explored the Abbey and grounds. We had a lovely, busy day but our packed lunches were still quite a highlight.

The Three Trees – Easter Celebration

March 30, 2017Jo Hussain

The children sang, danced and acted their way through the story of The Three Trees, which gives the message that God has a special plan for all our lives and also reminds us of the Easter story. There were dances from the Dance Crew and Dance Club, songs and dances from individual classes and fabulous…

Prayer Space

December 15, 2016Jo Hussain

The ICE team came into school to set up Prayer Space – calm, comfortable spaces to give our children a chance to explore different ways of praying or reflecting quietly.  There were creative activities and space to be still if they wanted this.
