The KS2 dance groups and choirs in our Federation were invited to perform at Powderham Castle during their Open Day. They all sang and danced brilliantly, and certainly cheered people up in their rainbow attire on a wet and cold day! Well done all of you!
Class 3 have been Investigating time through a range of activities, learning to tell and write the time from an analogue and digital clock, including 12-hour and 24-hour clocks. Using vocabulary such as o’clock, a.m./p.m., morning, afternoon, noon and midnight. They especially enjoyed solving problems which involved investigating the calendar, investigating minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years….
This half term we’ve been doing many different things to help us learn lots of new skills. We’ve been finding out about magnetism, playing with clay, and exploring the world of dinosaurs. We shared all we already knew about dinosaurs – we have quite a few specialists in Class 1! – and learnt new facts…
Class 1 celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday by dancing, singing, making Union Jack flags, icing birthday biscuits and making the Queen a birthday card. They all popped along to the Post Office to get stamps and post the card. We’re wondering if she’ll thank us… Watch this space!
The PTA have very kindly bought the school new racks for our scooters. They look lovely, positioned safely behind the gate near Class 3’s back door. The racks are for all to use so just park up your scooter first thing in the morning and collect it at home time. Thank you PTA for raising…
Class 3 were really grateful to Mr Jinks for yet again leading an exciting and inspirational drama session, teaching them Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. Class 1 booked some fabulous weather for their trip to Haldon Forest! We explored the woods, made dens and enjoyed a beautiful lunch in the sunshine. Class 2 had a very interesting and informative visit from the Fire Brigade. We learnt what to do if there was a fire at home and had a go at dressing up as quickly as a firefighter has to! What should you do if you catch fire? Stop. Drop. Roll.
With Fairtrade fortnight coming to a close, a selection of children spent the morning at Westcliff Primary School taking part in a Fairtrade workshop.
