Class 3 had a fun filled day today with a visit from History into Schools. A Roman gladiator time travelled from ancient Rome to teach us all about Roman soldiers, entertainment and customs. This week Class 3 have been learning about the rock cycle and we recreated this using Starburst sweets. We started with IGNEOUS ROCKS which weathered and eroded into sediments. Compaction made these small pieces of rocks into SEDIMENTARY ROCKS. Then heat and pressure made them into METAMORPHIC ROCK. Finally, the rocks and were melted into…
Today, Class 4 were learning about air resistance. They were split into groups and each group had to make a parachute. Group 1’s parachute diameter was 20cm, group 2 was 30cm, group 3 was 40cm, group 4 was 50cm and group 5’s was 60cm. They then had 4 strings of 40 cm long to attach to the parachute….

Today in Class 4’s science lesson we were learning about gravity. We read some information about Sir Isaac Newton, Ibn al-Haytham and Galileo Galilei. The children were then asked to weigh the mass of certain objects in the classroom (using kitchen scales) and then to measure the force of gravity pulling the objects to earth (in Newtons)….
Class 4 spent an amazing afternoon celebrating their Christmas party. They enjoyed completing a Christmas quiz before joining in with a range of party games including musical statues, musical bumps, Christmas charades as well as wrap the snowman in toilet paper! What a fun afternoon we had full of Christmas festivities and good cheer and everyone enjoyed letting their hair down! Well done class…
Kenn Primary school greatly enjoyed a visit from the local author Rob Holmes, author of the ‘Master Owl’ books. Rob spent time with each class, sharing his books and answering questions about his journey to becoming a published author. His stories have an important focus on well being, good mental health and talking about feelings…
Class 4 spent a fantastic afternoon designing, making and testing rockets. In teams, they planned stream lined, aerodynamic models which they then constructed out of card. They inserted a film canister into the bottom of the rocket. The canister was filled 1/3 full with water and half an alka seltzer tablet was added to the water…
Today Classes 3 & 4 had some very special visitors. Azooz’s mum brought in her puppies for the children to see and hold. All of key stage two had a chance to stroke the puppies and ask lots of questions.
