We were delighted to welcome Emma Jones from St Petrock’s Homeless Shelter into school to lead our assembly and share the wonderful work they do to support vulnerable members of our community. The children asked some amazing questions, and Emma was very impressed by how thoughtful and compassionate their comments were.
Together as a school community, we shared this prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for our homes — for warm beds, safe places to sleep, and people who care for us.
We remember today all those who don’t have a home of their own.
We think of children and families who have to sleep in shelters, in cars, or outside in the cold.
Please keep them safe and help them find comfort, warmth, and kindness.
Show us how we can help — by sharing what we have, showing care, and treating everyone with love and respect.
May our hearts always be open, and our hands ready to help.
Amen.
