In Class 3 we have learnt how to paint our own cityscapes inspired by Michael Calver’s paintings, we were particularly fascinated by the colours, especially in the skies and the effect they had on the overall feeling of the painting.
We wanted to experience what it is like to paint using acrylic paint, the same type of paint that Calver used in the paintings we saw at the Phoenix. Through using acrylics we developed a deeper understanding of colour mixing, we all spent time carefully choosing the colours we wanted to use.
We also feel that we have understood how to layer the paint to create different effects, for example in the sky. We also had a go at painting things in the foreground and in the background, one Year 3 boy said ‘I’ve never thought about buildings being in front of other buildings before.’
We are very proud of our class gallery
