Dear Parents
We hope you are all well and have had a lovely Summer holiday – welcome back.
Please see the curriculum map about what Class 4 will be learning this term.
Homework – The children will come home with the whole half term’s homework in their homework book. There will be spellings and tables (which will be tested on a Tuesday at school) as well as a quest which will be broken down into small chunks. Please could your child choose one of the quest questions to answer each week and bring their homework book back to school on a Tuesday when there will be an opportunity to share their homework with an adult at school. We will then send the books home again on Wednesday night.
Reading – please continue to hear your child read. It makes such a difference to their reading in all curriculum areas if they are heard at home regularly. The children have reading log books and when your child has collected five signatures, they will receive a golden ticket which will be entered into a weekly draw where two pupils will have the chance to win 15 minutes of golden time.
PE (First half term, please come to school in PE kit on Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays. Second half term please come to school in PE kit on Tuesdays and Fridays).
Forest School– the class will be split into 2 mixed year 5/6 groups. Group 1 will go for the first 4 weeks beginning on Tuesday 19th September and group 2 will go for the second 4 weeks starting on Tuesday 17thOctober. We will let you know which group your child will be in and a separate letter will explain what your child needs to wear and bring with them.
Water bottles – please make sure your child has a full, named water bottle in school which we will send home on a Friday for cleaning.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Mrs Crossley-May and Mrs Slater
