KS1 had a wonderful trip to Exmouth and to the Lifeboat station. They made sandcastles, played and ate a picnic on the beach after visiting and learning all about the RNLI.
Did you know that over 100 volunteers work there – and only the Station Master and Station Mechanic are paid? All the crew have to live or work less than a ten minute journey away. They do an incredible job rescuing and saving people from the sea. We learnt a lot about beach safety and how to enjoy the sea sensibly.
Thank you very much to Bill and the other volunteers for such an interesting and informative morning.
What a fabulous day!
