Almost the end of term and most classes have now finished their forest school sessions. We have had a really busy time playing, exploring and learning in the woods at Bickham Farm and the Powderham Estate.
Cooking over the fire is most definitely a popular activity; bread, pancakes, pine needle tea, nettle crisps and fritters have all gone down well alongside the usual marshmallows and hot chocolate.
A windbreak shelter and a forest cafe have sprung up in the woods over recent weeks and children have loved scrambling and bouncing on the large net amongst the trees. Reception and Year One children will soon start their 4-week block to take us the the end of term.
“Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.” ~ David Polis
