Class 1 revisited Haldon Forest as an opportunity to see, hear, touch, feel and smell how the woods have changed since our last visit in the autumn. It also provided us with the opportunity to join in the 15th Birthday celebrations of ‘The Gruffalo’ by following and engaging in the activities of The Gruffalo Trail which is being rolled out at certain Forestry Commission locations across the country this year.
Against a backdrop of a glorious summer’s day we had opportunities to observe and discover the wonders of a woodland on our doorstep. Our outdoor learning day included den building, tree climbing and lots of imaginative play with plenty of talk about staying safe in the sun.
The children were particularly excited to see foxgloves growing, recalling their learning from earlier in the year.
