As part of our learning on Pirates and Mermaids we visited Dawlish Warren where we spent time with a Countryside Ranger from the Nature Reserve and then spent an afternoon on the beach.
We learnt about the importance of camouflage and enjoyed some pond dipping and bug hunting and then we went onto the beach where we did some beachcombing; collecting, identifying and classifying shells.
After a picnic lunch we enjoyed working and playing together on the beach to make sandcastles, digging a moat and burying treasure.
A wonderful day out on the beach and we even spotted a pirate ship on the horizon!
